Updated: Aug 11, 2020

Welcome to part 3 of 'Brides Bouquets With Attitude'. This post will be looking at the Gloriosa Lily. An attractive and exotic flower which can't help but bring lots of attitude to any brides bouquet you choose to add it to.

If you're getting married and have not quite decided which blooms to include in your wedding bouquet take a look at the Gloriosa because it is certainly a worthy contender for 2019.

Symbolic meaning

Ambition and success

The gloriosa lily certainly lives up to its name. A solitary fully opened bloom of the gloriosa flower is an exquisite sight to behold.

The petals when fully opened are reminiscent of Cinderella’s carriage. Its stamens representing the wheels.

Are they the flowers of fairy tales? Yes in my eyes they are.

Gloriosa Aliases

If you decide to investigate this wonderful flower you will find it is known by several names; flame lily, fire lily, glory lily, creeping lily to name but a few.

Unique beauty I almost created a separate blog category for this super special flower. If I had gone ahead with that idea then I would have named that particular category ‘Bouquets with wow factor'.

Let’s be honest, how could you not remember a bride’s bouquet that had several of these nestled in among the filler flowers and foliage?

Let me correct myself. These flowers would not be nestling in any bouquet, they would be loudly shouting ‘Look at me! Look at me!’

SO LET'S CONSIDER 4 QUALITIES OF THIS WONDERFUL FLOWER

BEAUTY – This flower is exceptionally beautiful. It has a delicate appearance, 6 beautifully scalloped edged petals.

AVAILABLITY – Gloriosa is available just about all year round.

AFFORDABILITY– Gloriosa are not the cheapest flowers by any means, nor are they necessarily the most expensive. So why have I given it the quality affordability? My answer is, unlike some flowers you only really need 1 to 2 stems at the most and your bouquet will pop with attitude.

VERSATILITY – From the colour point of view these exotic flowers offer a lot. Cerise, yellow, orange and red. The gloriosa will work just as well in a small hand tied beach wedding bouquet as it would in a larger more sophisticated or elegant creation.

Did you know the Gloriosa is the national flower of both Zimbabwe and Tamil Nadu in India?

Then again, it should be no surprise to anyone that this beautiful bloom would be revered by so many.

This is only a brief look at the Gloriosa lily, nevertheless I hope you've been inspired to give it some consideration.
