Wedding Favour Votive Wrapped in Baby Blue Tulle

I JUST CAN'T STOP COLLECTING PARTY FAVOURS!

I still possess a copy of the menu which was used at my own wedding back in 1988. It is one of a long list of things that I keep snaffled away. On those occasions when moments of serendipity occur, I can sit for long, calm moments smiling silently and with much contentment as I reminisce.

GIVING WEDDING FAVOURS IS A WAY OF SAYING THANK YOU TO YOUR GUESTS

It doesn't take much to take me back to a fond memory. It could be anything from;

a colour, a flower, a certain aroma, a song, a thank you note, a 21st birthday card, a wedding invitation or an old photograph. THE LIST IS ENDLESS!

I am currently looking fondly at a sepia coloured scroll received from a close friend whose marriage was 10 years ago. It reads:

'Your friendship is a gift from God.

On this, my Wedding Day

I count my blessings as a joyful bride,

And I'm truly thankful that

you're by my side.

You honour me with your

friendship and love,

Truly a blessing,

sent from above.

Your loyalty and thoughtfulness

make it plain to see,

Your friendship is one of the

Greatest gifts God has given me...'

EDIBLE FAVOURS

These gifts will always be welcomed by the children at the wedding, so be warned those beautiful favours you sat up several nights making with a friend will be destroyed within minutes of being spotted by some little ones.

As an adult, I have often collected my favours, yes I've even kept the edible ones. The ones that looked just too pretty to spoil, especially the bonbonnieres which contained sugared almonds.

SCENTED FAVOURS

Items such as scented votives and yankee candles are lovely. The heady scent that comes from some of these being burnt are not to everyone's taste, but they are certainly popular and there are so many interesting aromas to choose, from the sweetest vanilla to the spiciest cinnamon.

MORE POPULAR WEDDING FAVOURS

Your wedding guests will keep hold of meaningful favours for years and years.

For favours that will either be used or put on a shelf somewhere safe. Here are five more practical ideas that will probably be kept for years to come.

  • Place-mats

  • Mini cactus (including succulents)

  • Key-rings

  • Bottle openers in all shapes and sizes

  • Fans

DID YOU KNOW?

It is an Italian tradition to put just 5 Jordan almonds inside a wedding bonbonniere for symbolic reasons. The 5 almonds represent;

  1. Health

  2. Wealth

  3. Fertility

  4. Longevity

  5. Happiness

PLEASE DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LONG LASTING EFFECT OF A WELL THOUGHT OUT WEDDING FAVOUR. XX

We wish you every success for your special day.
